Family & Newborn Session Details
Each session should be fun and relaxing!
I love it best when everyone walks away smiling!
Planning~
I’d love to learn all about what you’re looking for and ask a few questions of my own. If you want the session details planned I’m happy to step into that creative role for you. If you want more of an active role in session details feel free to set-up a phone call or send over an email letting me know your ideas. I also welcome visuals, if you have an image of something you love feel free to send it over for inspiration. I’ll send over an email or two asking about colors, looks you want to achieve, location vibes, questions about clothing and questions about other details that come up. Some sessions like weddings, business or personal branding require a planning consult.
Pacific Northwest Weather~
Need I say more? So you might be asking yourself how-just-how can we schedule when we don’t know what the weather will be like? When you book your session I might not always add a time to it, I might make a suggestion to block a chunk of time. I personally don’t love photographing in the rain unless it’s part of the charm and details of the photos. Otherwise I’m willing to adjust a bit when needed and if it’s pouring in the morning but we have some wiggle room for evening photos I will offer those options when I can. I’ve also got a list of indoor ideas that work well and some cute clear umbrellas just in case.
Locations-
The different style photo sessions I offer like: family photos, high senior photos, maternity photos, engagement photos these will be located at a custom location. The location will be determined about a week before the session ( sometimes it’s switched up if something comes up with weather or location issues) If your family is up for an adventurous family photoshoot, Im in! Otherwise, after your session is scheduled I’ll send over a series of questions that help narrow down a location. Over the years I’ve scouted many locations in the surrounding areas. I pick areas based on lighting, accessibility, and based on appeal for the time of year. Before sessions I check the area to make sure that rainfall or other variable don’t pose an issue. I also come ready with blankets or stools for kids if that is part of the creative design when planning the session. Narrowing down the location comes from a list that I’ll send over to choose from.
Clothing and Styling~
I consider myself pretty good at coordinating clothing for individuals and for large groups. When planning sessions I will encourage clients to send images of clothing to me so that clothing blends and coordinates with session props or location. I’ve also written a few blogs on the topic that can be found under the Blog section.
Newborn Sessions~
Newborn sessions are held in my studio( located in Edmonds) and will be created with props, wraps, and backdrops that I have available in my collection. No need to provide items unless you have a special item you want added to the session. Some newborn sessions are held in your home and this is done by request. Before your session you will receive an email with how to prepare for the in-studio session, please feel free to ask questions. Over the years I’ve noticed parents worry about how the session will go with young siblings, let me calm your worries! Ive developed some tips and tricks that make it run smooth for everyone. If Baby Shark needs to be sang to a wiggly toddler I’m up for those shenanigans. I say to parents just sit back and relax, no need to do much during this session.
What’s Next~
After each session I will go through each file to find the best images that meet my artistic goals. Your images will be delivered to your email on a personal photo gallery link., these gallery links do expire and require images be downloaded to several spots for safe keeping. These links are sent within 3-4 weeks after your session, if you need your images sooner please inquire about a 1 week delivery option. I know 3-4 weeks can feel like an eternity to wait, I try to get a sneak peek up on Instagram between 1-2 weeks after the session. I encourage you to start following me at @verbphotographyllc you can be the first to see your images.
SOMETIMES YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE VALUE OF A MOMENT UNTIL IT BECOMES A MEMORY.

“ I sustain myself with the love of family.” Maya Angelou
Each family has a unique story! I have a strong desire to create images that show your story, joy, silliness, and love for each other. Being in front of the camera is where the magic happens but my hope is to make you feel like you aren’t under a spotlight. I striver to get a few different styles of images in each of my sessions.
How about we talk about what Grandparents and Aunties and all those people in our families, over the years I’ve learned that what really brings a smile to their face is that images that has everyone looking into the camera and showing their best smiles. I’ll be honest I like a handful of these images for my family keepsake photo collection, also. My all time favorite images are the fun interactive photos and all the silliness. My favorite part about each session is to seeing how I can create interactive lifestyle images. These interactive lifestyle images come from a family walking together, talking, tickling etc… let’s find your families keepsake moments and capture them!!
